Default Struthers Wells gas engines. Are any left?

Does anyone know if any of these Warren, Pa. giants still exist? They built engines from 10 to 600 hp. They also built steam engines. Quite a few of the steamers were converted into half breeds. Those don't count in this question! I'm wondering about the 4 CYCLE sideshaft engines they built.

The Struthers Wells is still in the Harvey Expo building at Coolspring. It is currently on loan to the museum. There is also a smaller Struthers Wells in the founders building at Coolspring. There is also a twin Struthers wells at a private museum in St. Marys PA. At one time there was a tandem single acting Struthers Wells in the compressor station where the 300 HP Miller at Coolspring came from. I think it was 200 HP or 250 Hp? There is a cam lobe or two from this engine in the John Wilcox Power House at Coolspring.

There are a few approx. 14 HP ones from the oil fields floating around. I sold one to a friend in Michigan. Attached are a couple pictures of the one in the Expo building undergoing restoration. The engine had its original paint and the guy who got it in the 1960's left it outside until it was rusty and then dumped 5 gallons of red paint on it - UGH!

I know of one in a private collection. I last seen it about 25 years ago in the woods. Found out last summer where it went too. At least it's not going to China. I'll see if I can get pictures of it for you.

A Struthers Wells is the "holy grail" of my engine hobby... I have seen a few around - there's a big twin cylinder at Ed Kunst's museum in St. Marys, PA, a collector in Warren that is into Warren engines has the remains of a 10 ad 15 or maybe 15 and 20? as yet unrestored. Seems like he's missing flywheels for one, or something like that. There was another complete one in Warren that I believe was sold several years back. I drool over Mike Fuocco's (maybe misspelled, sorry Mike!)inverted and the little 4hp Dr. Harvey has in the doorway of the first building you come to through the gate of Coolspring. John Wilcox also had an inverted with a broken up water jacket that was sold when he died.

Wow - until I wrote these down I never realized I knew of so many...

My connection to Struthers Wells? My Grandfather was a master machinist and master mechanic at SW for 40 years starting in the 1940's. My dad was a machinist there as well, and I distinctly remember going through the Warren plant with him (night shift of course!) when I was little. We would also meet him for dinner often and ate on a little grassy spot between the SW engineering building and the Alleghany river. I just have a lot of SW memories and family history, so that's my ultimate brand to find. Just haven't been lucky enough yet - have to settle for a complete SW steam engine for now...

Oh, I do happen know where what we are pretty sure is the original steam whistle that signalled the shifts for the Warren plant is. One day I hope to talk the owner out of it...

One of two inverted known to exist. This one is at Coolspring. Came from a small shop outside Bradford PA.
If you are interested in seeing old factory photos please reply to the thread.
