Default 25HP Superior info

Couple questions about a 25hp superior. Wondering what the big ring is attached to crank near counter weights and also what does the rear threaded hole behind main cap on left side of engine oil? Thanks!!

An Oil Slinger for the connecting rod. The crank is drilled through the throw to the Rod Journal. Oil is dripped in the ring and by centrifugal force it is delivered to the Rod Bearing. Enuf Said.

I sure would like to see some more pics of this 25 that has four main bolts on each cap. Rather, studs and nuts.

Leonard, my 25 HP Fairbanks Morse YH has two bolts on the caps too. Might have been something that was done for extra insurance to prevent a loose cap.
