Default Twin cylinder 4 cycle McEwen Bros., Wellsville, NY

Not one, but two cylinders AND two sideshafts. McEwen Bros. was Wellsville's premier engine builder. I would love to know where this installation was. A very intricate engine.

By the angle of the belt I would say it at the foot of one of the hills in your part of oildom. Go for a hike Brian - there aren't many hills in a 100 mile radius of Wellsville are there?

Bill,
For all the pic shows, I'm thinking this was a prime mover in a factory or power plant. Who knows? It could have been the power for the McEwen Bros. factory. At any rate I would love to know if it still might exist in some forgotten building. Wow, would that ever be the find of a lifetime. I've never seen or heard of this engine mentioned in local lore. Tribal knowledge around here about McEwen is nil. All the folks that worked there are long gone dead. Really too bad that some of the records and photos weren't saved. McEwen Bros. had plants in Tulsa, OK., Ridgeway, PA., Williamsport, PA. and the home office in Wellsville, NY. They may have had other offices in other cities. McEwen Bros. closed the books in 1954 due to dwindling demand for oil well supplies.
