Default Myrick Eclipse hot tube

I recently picked up a 4HP Myrick Eclipse engine project. I have a reproduction hot tube, chimney and burner for it. When I was a coolspring, I was looking at the Myricks there and they don't have this strange boss on the head like mine has. I looks to be original and there is carbon inside it. I didn't try to remove it. Is there something I'm missing?

I am pretty sure that bushing is not original. It looks like someone made it to fit a chimney from another engine.

It has silver paint on it. Thats why I thought it was original. I guess it is easy enough to turn down on the lathe to fit the chimney.

You can tell that it not original because it is not pitted like the head is and the nuts on the head are not original either, they should be flat on the bottom with a .01" to .015" washer like step turned into the bottom of the nut.

Thanks Bill. I'll turn it down and make it work.

The spud for the hot tube is 1/2 NPT where it goes in the head and is like ~2" long. The hot tube is 1/4 NPT, screws into the spud and the hot tube slips over the spud and is affixed with a set screw. Yours looks like one used on an ARACO I have seen.
