Default Need a little info on Onan 6.5 NHE

I picked this Onan up Jan-Feb and it was too cold for these old knees to get down on that frozen ground and last week I
was finally able to get down low enough to read the data tag..and I have a few questions that I hope one of you will answer for me.
It came out of an 87 Itasca RV with 2 roof a/c's plus all the other amenities that you might find on wheels these day'...
It's a 6.5NHE 1R/26101A----D850758491----120V--1Ph KVA 6.5----KW 6.5----PF 1.0----Amps 54 2.......

It has two pair of B & W and a green grnd wire..The two blacks go into the gen head and both whites and the Grn are tied to a grounded buss bar.. If I count right there are a total of 8 wires coming out of the head,4 small whites that go to ign coil and a 2 wire Johnson plug that goes somewhere fwd under metal shroud the others go to a transformer..

Can this be rewired for 110/220 or do I need an external xformer?

When was it built?

The little white Remote Start plug--Does it have to have a shorting block plugged into it or will it run as is?

What is meant by 6.5 KVA ? PF 10 ? Is it 54 Amps off 2 pair of B&W's or 54 Amps total?

And last! Does anyone have a wiring diagram that could scan me a copy?
Thanks fellas..
Gene

the amps is 54 amps TOTAL @ 120 volts. If there happens to be two circuits in that head, the 54 would be divided by 2 to get the amperage for each circuit.

If there's 2 circuits, it probably can be reconnected for 120/240. In that case, the amperage would be 27 on each line whether from a 120 circuit or the 240 or a combination.

To tell for sure, ohm through the big blacks and whites and see what is connected to what.

D85XXXXXX April of '85
kVA= volts x amps / 1000 so 120 x 54 = 6480/1000 or 6.48 kVA
pf = 1.0 means kW/kVA= 1
(on a generator set, it means that the engine can pull kW equal to the kVA that the generator can deliver)

larger sets frequently are built with pf=0.8 because many loads require more
"apparent" power (VA) than they do "real" power (kW) and it saves having a larger than necessary engine.

Jim,
Thanks for the response! Will get my Simpson out tomorrow and see what the 2 blacks are hooked up to.
