Post Maytag Wringer Washer Model 32

I'm currently restoring a 1937 Maytag Model 32/32L with the electric motor. I also have the Model 92 Gas Engine for this machine. My question is what type of lubrication is used in the transmission? Is it simply a marine grade grease, or is there an oil? On tear down I removed about a quart of a very gunky brownish heavy fluid that I thought was melted grease. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tom

Yes it is a very thick grease similar to wheel bearing grease. Service manual calls for 1/2 pound. Should fill lower section of transmission. Bill

Thanks for the help. I think I'll use the Marine Grade grease as it has more water repellancy. I'll pack to lower half of the trans case. Hope to have this machine painted and back together in the next week or so. I'll post some pics for you.

Hey Tom,
I'm embarking on a new restoration project - after completing a Model 90, two Model 30s, I'm now on to a 1938 Model 32. It would be great to see the pics of your restoration - it's been a few years, but I can't find any pics of your machine on the site.
