Default A.W.R. Vacuum Pump

Can anyone help out with some literature or information on this vacuum pump (or one like it)?
After some searching I think that A.W.R. refers to the A.W.R. Milking Machine Co., LTD. formed by engineer and inventor Alexander Walker Reid, Stratford, New Zealand. He built steam-powered cars, invented his own milking machine and designed some of the earliest pop-top caravans!

Cheers,
tim

Can you ID the engine in this old photo? I have an idea of what it is - not one you see every day.
Photo is from the Puke Ariki website http://vernon.npdc.govt.nz/search.do...ct&view=detail
