Default Hocking valley feed cutter restored

Hocking Valley Feed and Ensilage Cutter made in Lancaster OH. This is a No 11. They made 4 sizes from 9" to 15".

About 1965 we dug this out of the mud in a hog lot. A lot of the wood was still there but was deteriorated and the paint and lettering was gone. One wood brace on the gear box had bright red paint when removed. I was able to git the same wood that was used originally such as the white oak for the frame and yellow pine or popular for the feed table. The two wood springs are hickory.

I have some information a d photos on the lettering and pen-striping from Andy in Cincinnati OH.

A lever allows the feed rollers to be reversed and thrown out of gear. The fly wheel was missing. The four cutting knives could be adjusted closer to the shear bar. It still works great using a 3 HP IH Famous engine.

Will Barnhart; Nice find and well done on the rebuild. Some of this old machinery is really interesting to see again. I was on a farm in the 40`s to early 60`s, I was around some of this old machinery that was powered by horses and then switched to tractor power and then set on the side for bigger and better and faster machines. Nice to see it again. Thanks for the find and post some more. Roger Weinhold AKA Charlie 1925 Check my profile and see one of my old tractors

Thanks for the interest. I hope I'm doing this right - additional Photos.

I am considering taking this and the Deere & Mansur Co 2 hole corn sheller to Portland IN trading post/auction This month.

Will,
If you really wanted to get some money out of that 2 hole Mansur consign it to Polk. They have a consignment auction the 31st with tons of rare shellers.
