Default Kelly Duplex no 1

just purchased this mill its missing leg closest to flywheel/pulley end .does any one out there have it and a cast iron hopper.thanks edgar in west tn

More than likely, you will need a donor parts machine or else this one will become a parts machine. Keep in mind that the design changed a bit over the years so be sure all the details match before purchasing a donor.

soooany body out ther have any patrs for sale for one of these duplex mills or willing to loan me a leg so i can at least have one recast for mine???thanks edgar in west tn

ok bumping this up again surely there s someone willing to have a leg cast or has one to letme borrow or a parts kelly no 1 duplex mill out there in old iron world surely..!!!?????thanks edgar in west tn

Just thinking out loud, but does the leg on the other side come off? If it does, you could use it as a pattern and get another one cast off of it. It looks small enough that shrinkage wouldn't be that much of a problem, just might have to put more shims under one side than the other.

Unfortunately, the front and rear legs are not interchangeable since they attach in different ways. And because the legs are cast in pairs, there isn't a left/right that could be used as a pattern. The only available options are to purchase a replacement, borrow one to use as a casting pattern, or live with a fabricated leg.

yeah jeb s right mike give you an a for the day though. i will prolly fab one as close as possible out of still put fillets in with bondo and see about geeting one cast .next item will be cast iron hopper prolly do it same way .just another fun item to learn making patterns and having things cast.!! ive seen a whole lot worst people have had to make and cast .!!!
