Guys I need some help. I found an engine I am getting but I need some info about it. All I got on the engine right now is this info...Disp-739...rpm-225-450...er#-164...date-8.70...bore-9.25
I am planning on getting this engine this weekend coming but I need to know abotu what it weights. also would like to know a HP on it.
the engine seems to be complete all but a sub base for it. the mag and everything is there, i can not say if it is stuck right now as the engine is sitting on the ground.
any info will be real helpfull and also appreciated.
will keep everyone posted on this.

I'd venture a guess that this engine was actually made by Colt Industries, given what I think is a date of August, 1970. It's the same thing as a Fairbanks Morse ZC-739.

I don't know if Colt offered the same options as Fairbanks Morse, but FM offered the sub base as an option.

Depending on condition, I'd say it's worth anywhere from 500 (core) to 2000 (rebuilt).

Probably a Hecho en Mexico on the tag too? Some parts for the 739 are no longer around, like the rocker arm and fan.

What are your plans for the engine?

I see it has a Crow ball bearing clutch hand wheel on it.

Nice find Chad. I wish that was sitting in my yard. Take care when you pick it up and don't bend the crankshaft. Most of the 739's that I have seen do not have the factory sub base.
Good luck with it.

At least it doesn't seem to be too far off the road! Nice find.
