Default Stihl Chainsaw Information

I was wondering if anyone could tell me any information about this stihl saw I came across. Years ago my dad used to sell Stihl saws and this was in his shop for years. I have not had a chance to do much with it yet.

That is the predessor to the Stihl 090 the largest one man stihl saw ever made, and most sought after, the 090 that is. if i'm not mistaking the lightning is 137cc like the 090,they also made one just like it called the contra and it was 107cc like the 070 stihl. The 090 was 13hp and bring 1000 bucks on ebay today.

There where two lightening models, the "lightening"(107cc) and the "lightening-s" (137cc). It is generally the 090G that brings the big money. The lightening saws seem to bring 200-700 depending on condition (does it run, what kind of shape is it in, etc). They are great saws and to collectors, like myself, they are tons of fun. Get it going and enjoy it!

You can add about $500-$1000 on the above price range

Not to be argumentative, but, these are the two that have sold over the last 90 days on eBay, my range seems pretty close, I watch all of these as I'd like one, but currently have too many other projects...

A parts saw:
http://ebay.com/itm/STIHL-LIGHTNING-CHAINSAW-WILL-START-WITH-A-PRIME-MISSING-TOP-COVER-/231032996847

And a complete saw:
http://ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-STIHL-LIGHTNING-CHAINSAW-RARE-type-1106-motor-129569-/261313121820

The complete saw was originally listed for 1k, and no one would pay that:
http://ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-STIHL-LIGHTNING-CHAINSAW-RARE-type-1106-motor-129569-/221302493220

So it relisted and sold for 565.00

Price is highly regulated by geographical location as well.

Have you seen some of the ended and current auctions for 090's ? $3-4K

oh yeah, 090 and especially the 090AV & 090G bring crazy money, especially for you east coasters! I realize that out west they are much more common because of big timber. But even then, the others I posted where in the mid west and they seem pretty average for lightening prices. I think the 090 draws the money it does because the easy to obtain parts and the number that are still in use! For a saw that started production in the 60's and is still being produced, it is impressive. I've even seen Chinese 100% clones and guys claim they accept OE Stihl parts. Those saws bring 1500 new on eBay.

Those are very desirable saws and bring big money. Other "hot" Stihl saws are the 020T, MS200T. If you have a clean one like new its $1500.00 these days. I just sold 4 junk parts 020T saws that were rough but fixable with lots of parts for $800.00 and the guy drove down from NH to get them!
