Default 5 hp Bessemer

I purchased a hot tube, burner, and chimney, thanks John. The chimney needs to be drilled to match the holes on the engine. QUESTION, on the bottom of the chimney there are four protrusions, they are bigger thean the circumfrence of the opening on the engine, so it does not allow the chimney to sit flush over the mount, there is about 1/4" gap. does the chimney need to fit tight or is it suppose to sit up a little to let in air? should I grind the four protrusions off to make it sit flush then bolt it on?

They are sapposed to keep the chimney up off the head to allow for air intake.
