Default Johnson Outboard unknown model?

A friend has this outboard she would like me to sell. I can't make our the model on it. Does anyone know the model and year? I believe it is pre WW II. I don't know if it runs. Any idea on what it is worth?

This will prove to be an early 1922 Johnson motor. The signs that give it away as such would be the steel grab bar and tiller handle tubing, as well as the square opening at the bottom of the transom bracket (visible below the hanging board).

if it is a three-digit serial number, it would be worth more to most collectors than a later version.

Johnson got rid of the opening in the transom bracket fairly early in the 1922 production run, estimates put the number of motors with that feature as less than 1000 units.

Hope this helps.

Best,
PM T2
