Default Murray Bridge Auction

Hi Guys,

Did anyone get to the Murray Bridge auction on Friday? I was planning on going, but didn't get there.

Any news on the small Crossley that sold?

Regards,

Wayne

yes i went and got blown out of the water. The crossley (not original missing all of the original ignition, eg hot box/tube and pecker governor) finished at 15 thousand flat. new way verticle 2200. verticle hornsby 1800. ronnie n 950 (why). 3hp m inter 700. cooper coffee pot 450. most other engines went for 500-1000. a very expensive auction.
all engines were older restos and all ran.

Hi Russell,

Actually thats a shock I thought you were the buyer. I had the wrong Russell.

I see the engine was advertised as 1898, but with a 56000 engine number I would think around 1906 is closer to the date. (Russell would have known this).

Recently I was shown an article by a friend which referred to Crossley engines. The information in the article was incorrect in many aspects, I am sure the less knowledgable readers will accept this information as fact. Which is probably why we have engines advertised as 1898 instead of 1906.

Nick, thanks for the information. The Crossley would have been on my shopping list if I had of made it to the auction.

Regards,

Wayne

Wayne I would like a little one one day; my turn will come. I have enough projects ahead of me already. James thanks for the pictures; although photo bucket seems to have way to much crap in the background of your photo??

regards Russell

G'day all. i made it over to the auction but arrived an hour late after a trip further north to pick up some hornsby parts,i was standind near russell during the bidding and heard him say after the auction that the crossley was a 'HB' model, even with the moddified govenor it was still a near complete engine, cheers dave ps the blackstone which was passed in at 8000.00 reserve 10000.00 was a bit of a dodgy one with badly repaired parts and a cracked gib key hub on one flywheel.
