Default Generator/ATS Load Bank Testing Maintenance

Generator/ATS Load Bank Testing Scheduled Preventative Maintenance
Location: ATL01 - Atlanta, GA, USA
Date: 6/30/2018
Start Time: 0800h EDT
End Time: 1700h EDT
Ticket: REQUEST 84146996
Customer Notification Method: E-Mail
Anticipated Impact: Temporary loss of redundancy.

This load bank testing preventative maintenance has been scheduled to perform thorough checks on the generator and automatic transfer equipment that serves our ATL01 datacenter. Load bank testing ensures that the components within the power protection system will work and perform together as intended when called upon to support a critical load. During this maintenance all components and systems of these systems will be examined and checked to ensure they are operating properly. There will be no load transfers during this maintenance window so we do not anticipate any customer facing impact.

This operation is fully scripted and intended to be completely transparent to all operations at ATL01.

Default Re: Generator/ATS Load Bank Testing Maintenance

Hopefully not another data center who's terrified of transfer tests. Some poor gen tech will get the midnight call of another ATS that didn't get the job done after being asked to move for the first time in years. If hospitals can do monthly load tests, everyone can!

Question Re: Generator/ATS Load Bank Testing Maintenance

I did one where I could run the generator. But not transfer. Then they wanted me to sign off on the system. That it was operational. I told them if I can't test the system. I can't approve it.
I don't talk to myself. This early in the morning. Why the hell should I talk to you.
