Default Onan RJC Choke Wiring Diagram

Hello All,

I have made some progress on my RJC fuel swap (from gaseous to gasoline) and this evening i am working on the carburetor. i am working on putting a tri fuel carb on a set that was previously natural gas only, and because of that, it was not equipped with a choke. i have the trifuel carb off of an older JC that has the choke, and so i am looking for a wiring diagram to know where i need to add wires for the thermo-electric choke to operate properly. it has been a little less than a year since i took the carb off of the donor set and am not 100 percent on all the wiring now.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for a 1970s model RJC spec AA gasoline set?

Hopefully that is enough information

Thanks!
Ken

If you want the real spec sheet for your genset, you will need to find the complete model number and serial number. It probably wouldn't be hard to fnd a diagram for a similar gas engine. But if you want to try pot-luck, you can probably find diagrams that are close enough in one of the manuals in this link. Most of the manuals include some generic wiring diagrams and that is probably close enough for your needs.

You could also go to this site and search for any manuals for RJC or JC series gensets. I expect they will be close enough.....

Page 76 in manual 900-0184 should get you close.

You can get the manual at:

Any questions let me know, I just had to wire mine in as well.

It looks like most of the drawings in the YD books for the RJC just covers the generator controls, am i missing something in there that shows how accessories are wired in to the controls?

perhaps someone has a drawing number of what they find to be accurate that i can look at and compare notes with?

or maybe someone has the wiring diagram for this set? its an older unit, but maybe the wiring diagram would have what i need and i have the numbers for it handy.

Thanks for any help!

Hello Everyone,

I did a little more digging and figuring and found a drawing that i think will work. hopefully someone can double check my figuring.

Looks like C1 is wired to the same wire that tells the starter solenoid to pull in, and then C2 goes to ground, this should snap the solenoid in the choke closed during starting and then opens again once the speed switch tells the starter to stop.

Then you have the thermo-electric part, which looks like it is tied to the wire feeding the positive side of the ignition coil, current is flowing to the choke element while the set is operating normally which heats the element up and opens the choke fully once the set is running. seems pretty simple now... i think...

I read some of Radarmans other posts and that helped to clarify some things too.

Do i have this right?

Thanks,
Ken
