Default F-Morse 6hp cart

Well, here is another cart question. I am refurbishing what I believe to be a 6hp Fairbanks Morse engine cart. Upon taking it apart, I find red paint in areas that lead me to wonder if this was the original cart color.

I was heading in the direction of a dark hunter green for the cart until I found traces of the red paint. If red was the original color, I would gladly paint it red.

Can anyone shed some light on this?? Thanks !!

I have a couple of old color catalogs and they show the carts painted red. Jason

Thanks for the response , Jason. What is the approximate vintage of the catalogs you refer to and what model of engines are on the carts? Vertical ? Horizontal ? Also, are the engines on the carts dark green, red or something else?? Thanks for any further reply, too!! John
