That's exactly right, Tim. I have no idea what those caps were nor how to dissolve the epoxy that they were potted in.

Here is the inverter. You can see the missing caps in the corner.

It's disappointing because I really liked a lot of features on this machine.

It almost looks like the internals of the capacitor blew out of the plastic shroud, and that plastic shroud is still sitting there in the epoxy. It might have the markings still on the outside. _maybe_ with the guts of the capacitor gone, you could peel the plastic coat away from the epoxy.

Someone over on the onan board depotted something similar. I'd do a search on google for " depotting" or "unpotting" . Looks like some have had good results and some have not. I don't think I'd try the 375 degree oven until I'd tried some other techniques less likely to cook the other components on the board. I suspect most chemicals to soften the epoxy might also "eat" the capacitor plastic coating and or wash off any markings.

google "epoxy depotting circuit board" (and select depoting instead of potting) they used boiling water to soften the epoxy and peel it away.

Maybe remove all the capacitor insides carefully and then drip boiling water into the hole, with the board tipped so it doesn't get on any other components and see if it will soften the epoxy enough to slip the capacitor jacket out.

Whatever you do, do a bunch of reading first. Maybe not be possible to do, but Have fun trying! <grin>

Hello fellas,

I am also in dire need of a couple of parts for a red boliy, i need the speed control board, the speed control stepper motor, and a back cover for mine, i bought it in need of repair, as the speed control stepper was bad, the speed stepper has since been replaced with a generic one that i found on the internet, it runs well now, but since replacing the stepper, the speed control gets stuck at wide open every now and again, so I've come to the conclusion that if i could get my hands on both, that i would just change them both, unless someone else has something to add or try?

Thanks in advance
