Serial# 650602 missing ID tag, 4-pole 120VAC remote-start generator.. I should have left this fester longer on CL but these 1800 AJs are kinda rare

Hurricane season is here on the gulf of mexico, send that little guy on south I'll give it a good home. Will fit in with my 4.0cck, 2 6.5's and my recent 7.5JB. I'll be looking for an AJ. Luck, Ben

I have no use whatsoever for one of those.

(But if one ever shows up around here, I'm getting it! )

I'd bet that would easily run a fridge and a few other small loads. Could be left running all night, consuming very little fuel...

Of course auto start would be even better for all night. That way it only runs when the fridge comes on. Or you turn on a light.

I need another generator like a hole in the head .. Just a sucker for cheap cast iron toys, and I don't have room for anything larger

Exactly! With emphasis on "Cheap", because they really aren't worth anything to the general public, and my chances of getting my money back when trying to sell one are pretty much zero. I would love to have a Kohler 4 cyl water cooled L600 or L654 engine with a 6.5Kw generator head, but absolutely no room.

Yup.. one of my pre-requisites for prying open the wallet. This is my third generator sporting the Carter-N gaseous carb, has a "20" bore (same as the LK).. This one is different, having the curious choke thing.. Could be designed to help with vacuum, and opens proportional to airflow? I've had more than one small generator that sometimes required manually working the throttle back n forth to get it started.

Wiring diagram 610C141 from the older AK manual (925-0500) matches this set perfectly.. It's possible that the old 924-0500 AJ service manual, has the drawing but didn't make it into the newer manuals. There is an A1 wire coming up from the gen-end that is floating free with insulated ring lug on the end, but pretty sure that is isn't used on this set (no choke, no charging relay). If anyone has a better copy, I'd appreciate it. I might draw up a schematic, and would like to label it properly.

This is what I have for 610-0141. Just a question, if the tag was missing, how did you know it was an 1,800RPM version of the AJ? Did you hear it run?

Studying parts manuals - noting the flicker points on the side.. Only the newer vacuflow-style 2.7/3.0 AJs have ignition points at that location, in a thinner box.
I remember one being discussed in a thread here, was a high-probability guess. If not for that, I would have waited him out and maybe got it for less $$..
I stopped him from trying to start it up because of all the control/output/AC wires being tangled up with bare ends, might short something out.

There will also be a set of pole shoe bolts on the bottom of the generator that you could look for (and under the control box).

That's the nice thing about Kohlers. Four pole machines have their poles set a 45* from straight up/down/sides so they can be spotted instantly.

A few evenings with some cleaner, blue-paper shop towels and nylon brushes.. There's some nice green under the grime. Top tins have some scratches, but I haven't found anything wrong with it..

It's like a toy, yes just enough to be useful.. I forgot to snap a photo of the blower housing top - silkscreen note with something like - Emergency Service - Test Weekly......."
