Default Webster Type 1 & 2?

Greetings,
Can anyone tell me the difference between a Webster type 1 and "new style type 2" magneto? I have a tri-polar 2 magnet AK, sn 658224. I want to put new coils in it, but want to be sure of what I have.

Thanks!
Jim

The mag internals were different, as well as the trip mechanism. Personally, I feel the type 1 was the best. Check the sponsor pages for mag venders - they should be able to hook you up with new coils easily. Lee Pederson may have then, I know H&M Enterprises does but the wait on H&M???

Thanks Mitch and Andrew. I was set to pull the trigger, then saw mention of "new style Type 2" and thought I'd better be sure. I was installing new end plates and springs I bought from Lee and found the cross over wire bare. I'm going to try wrapping it first, It's too tiny for me to attempt to solder. If it works, I'll let it ride, if not, new coils it is. Thanks!
