Smile Help Crosby Celebrate Its 50th Show

I have been talking with John Tysse about the 50th show coming up July 19-21, 2019. To reach this point has taken hundreds, probably thousands, of people participating. I recall many, many people who have passed on or have become inactive due to the affects of growing older. If you have pictures of these people or stories please share them here. I will start it off with a picture of Tony Rivers. One of the reasons for the growth of this show is the appearance of fresh young faces each year. I am a newcomer on the scene, less than 20 years, so I look forward to pictures and stories before my time. Thanks.

Thanks Kevin. I hope you are just the beginning of a flood of pictures here to honor the work of so many over the years.

If you don't have a digital picture but an old photo, take a picture of the photo with a digital camera or cell phone and email me the digital one at efkruege@midrivers.com I will edit it. The larger the pic, the better the quality so use the closeup feature and send the largest number of pixels you can. Thanks.

Slim, I had a number of photos from the past ten years, and earlier, sized and ready to post. Names like Clark, Joe, Ben, Kelly, Orris, Jerry, Harold and my friend Vince (who got us started attending). Some still attend and help out, some don't and some have passed on. Suddenly it occurred to me that some of these folks might not want a face put with a name, just for privacy....no other reason. This could be the reason for no one posting photos of someone else......Just a thought.

Ed, is Clark still around? After Joe passed, we never get to see him, just curious. I last saw Joe shortly before his passing at Dave's get together and he related some of the issues going on back home. I started attending in the early 80s and haven't missed too many years. I miss the Kansas guys that had always came to help, and their stories of collecting in the early days. Harold would organize the trip and have one of the fellows do the transportation. Wilfred Abbles was another who would bring his van loaded with the crew. Harold was likely one of the best historians still around, he had personally known many of the persons involved in the early tractor builders. So many faces are familiar at the shows but with out a name tag I'm unable to put the name with the face! I sadly miss the ones long gone but have met a lot of new folks that are a pleasure to know! Some better than others, but sill all good. I haven't been taking pictures much any more as the new digital camera's are not in my expertise. Kelly is as close to event photographer as anyone, Since I've been involved with steamer row, I don't get to visit as much as I tend to set up a shade area and keep an eye on the engine and the grand sons. Really keeps one busy! We don't get to have enough vacation time to get there as early as others, so getting things running is a bit of a mad rush to be ready for the show. Always keep in mind to stop and say hello if you happen to stroll past steam row!
