I remember seeing pictures of one in an issue of IMA. It was in pretty rough shape though. Definetly an engine worth restoring though.

I think there is at least of of them left. id like to see some pictures of it as well. as far as we understand it was jsut built on the 25hp boiler and called a 40 becasue of the double tandem compound.
Someone was talking about the Big mineapolis 35s and 45 in my other post. ive seen the boiler and wheels for the big 45 DTCP sitting at fargo. a doctor owns it and is going to restore it in a few years |

I saw a picture of a 40 Gaar not too long ago in IMA or E&E and it was located in California (this was a modern picture). Not too much info on that one.

Yes, There is a 40 hp double tandem compound Gaar Scott here in Montana. It would be a 33 hp in Canada (that's for Mr. CollinCase). It belongs to Mike Tyler just outside of Hobson Montana and was bought by either Max or Earl Tyler (now gone, one was his Dad and one was his ucle).
I am working on getting a picture for you Casemaker. Mike |

Colin, no i do not own that 30hp Waterloo, but i do know the owner. He is a collector here in Ontario, and I think that engine would give a 110hp Case a run for it's money, and if you used to own that engine then you know how big it is.

it mite pull pretty good for awhile, then everything would start breaking and cracking. i remember every piece on that engine was broke or cracked and dad got sick of brazing cast iron so he sold it haha
