I don't expect to get in the calander again but thought id post this nice picture.

its pretty rare to get a shot now days with out sutff in the back ground like hydro poles, vehicles, trains etc. Mom took this on a regular camera, and i scanned it, so its not as crisp as a digital. This was us plowing in early October 2008. 1923 65 and 8 Bottom Oliver plow.

Colin,
I bet if you get that same outfit out and get a picture of it with your mom plowing ..... I'll bet that it will make the calendar !

Hope someone has a camera when we do that shelling job a week from Saturday. Might be some calendar-worthy activity there, but I suspect I'll be a little busy.

#7130 to the rescue!! But I don't have a good side anymore - best to take it when I can't be seen, would be my guess.

Thanks Beth for starting the thread. Yes, a 2010 calendar is in the works. I've been putting together the calendar part (dates, etc.). We've had requests for the month before and after on each page (small) and moon phases. Last year was my first attempt at designing a calendar, so I kept it simple. Adding these shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, we need some pictures. We have some from last year, some were posted too late. Remember, we need good quality photos. If they are digital or if you scan them, use a high resolution to email them (or send them on a CD if your dial-up internet is slow, like mine), and don't crop them down, as it will give me some sky and background to work with to make them fit the space. If you have actual photos, you can also send them to me and I'll return them to you after we're finished. Also, don't forget, if it is someone else's engine, we will need their permission to use it. Last year, we had some great photos, but didn't know who owned the engine, or how to get in touch with them.

OK, as usual we're way behind schedule. So let's get those photos out, so we can make the final decision in the next couple of weeks. I don't want to be working on them at 10 PM on the night before Wauseon show, like last year.

We like to use a good mix of makes, areas of the country (or world) and doing different jobs. How about some portables, too? We didn't have any last year. Maybe one belted into a sawmill or something?? Surprise us! Be sure to take note of what is around the engine that can't be cropped off - like golf carts, signs, people standing in the way, etc.

You can PM me or Brad (after he cleans out his mailbox) and we'll send you our email address.

Hey Brenda,

So, the plan is to have them ready for distribution at the 4th annual Stakker Dinner at NTA in June? That will save postage for many of us!

I'll have to get my list of how many to get.....Christmas & birthday presents, bribes, general good will & personal stash!

Tom,

Weather pending, there should be a few of us from Michigan in attendance. I doubt we'll be in the field yet. Of course, the opportunity to see a Port Huron providing the power would draw me

Thanks,
Beth

I will offer up two. The first one is from the BSOT and is all 3 BEST110's in a row. That is a sight I thought never to see!
The second is an 1880 vintage up near San luis Obispo.

Steamrguy,
We haven't had any Bests in the last 2 calendars, and they're such unique tractors I'd like to include them. That picture unfortunately is just too dark to put in the calendar, you can't see much of anything. Do you have some clearer photos?

I'd also like to see that brand new Best steam crawler. A project like that deserves a spot in the calendar, IMHO.

Colin,
I think a while back you sent me the photo of the Case plowing with the Case car in the background. If I remember I think the quality was good enough to print and it's a neat picture, but we had so many other Case photos in the other calendars that I thought I'd catch hell for having another.

I did not get a good picture of the Best steam crawler. The guys at the Hedrick museum took some very good shots and they are for sale. Tom Madden visits this sight. Maybe he could help with this.

Here are a few other pictures I took. I also brightened up the shot of all 3 best engine (probable to much) if it might help. The one picture that includes the Don Hunters Holt is highly edited. You should look at it Full size to be sure it will look OK. I will probably have to send you the Ri Rez version for that.

Here are a few ideas. Perhaps we include some smaller fun "personal" shots too?

Here's Andy New riding Lindauer's 25 hp Kitten at the first Annual Stakker dinner at NTA. Kevin Small is watching.

How about LeRoy Blaker next to this cute little Port Huron.

Scott Sommerville's tool box on his Universal.

HalfKeck pulling a 16 hp Reeves & a 32 hp Reeves at NTA.

Brenda,

Might you have sale price numbers yet? How about a volume discount? It never fails, when people see mine, they always want one too!

Bring a good supply to Wauseon!

I guess I'll chime in here with a few photos I took of the Bests and the Holt.

Weeell what ever you do keep those Port Hurons off them pages.... that was for Beth. Speaking for myself any mix of engines would be great. Couple of common ones, couple of rare ones, a couple working. Seems like you see lots of plowing shots. How about saw mill, shake mills, rock crushers and other belt equipement? If you are going to use people shots or up close shots use them in place of the empty dates.

How about some more pictures? Some old pictures? Some scale models? Send me a PM if you don't want to post them here.
I haven't had chance to get prices from the printer yet. Hopefully we will be able to sell them for the same price with the same discount for 10 or more.
Thanks!
