Drain = shield

Just hook it up using the wire you have and following the instructions otherwise and see if it works before you go changing wire, etc.

Twisted pair cable is also called cat 5 cable. Special cable with the wires twisted around each other. Covered in a protected foil cover call the shield. Grounded at one end to stop interference from an out side source. Such as a radio,transmitter,electronic noise. Your old system should have it. But it might be a good idea to up grade. You can run with out it. But you run the risk the chance of losing control of the engine.

It works!!! I still have to make some adjustments but it started at idle speed which it would not do before, it was idled to low to run, I then turned the run speed up to get 225 volts. I am having a fuel problem and when it started skipping the speed actuator moved the throttle faster. When it shut down the actuator went full throttle so all that is working as it should. I thought I had the running problem fixed as I put in new points last week and ran it 20 minutes with no problems.

The speed sensor is 2 wire shielded cable. I did not hook up the drain wire as I did not know which wire was which. I assumed the red wire was hot and hooked it to terminal 9 and the black wire to 10 as the instructions said 10 was ground. Is that correct?? If so then I need to hook the drain wire to 10.

Thank you guys for all your help
