Leon:
I offered James a copy of the 967-500 manual because it has the magniciter wiring diagrams for the J series, although it does not have wiring diagrams for the diesel engine, I think it would be good for him to have. I do not have a DJB engine service manual to send him. (967-500 is 3.7 meg. it usually e-mails fine)

James:
As Leon noted, the Onan manuals are black & white, save for a few colored covers. If you will post an e-mail address we will send you what we have, there is no charge for this, though you may feel free to send Harry a donation to help continue this great forum he provides for us.

Max:

You are 100% correct. 967-500 covers only the JB and JC versions not the DJB or the DJC versions. However, my Onan color brochure does illustrate both the gas-gasoline and diesel designs, with an excellent write up with schematics of the Magneciter end.

Just curious, why would anyone want to replace the Magneciter saturable reactors with an electronic voltage requlator and at the same time loose the robustness of the alternator.

Leon, have you priced Magneciter parts lately?

No, but I see what you mean. I cannot imagine a magneciter failing unless of course it was abused. I would rewind a coil if necessary or merely replace the diodes. That's all there is to it.

Good Morning all;

I have been busy gathering manuals for my DJB vintage 11/1972 Genset. The 967-0751manual I have covers the engine. BTPost made reference to Manual 967-0301. This manual has so far eluded me. Any guidance or help in acquiring it would be great

Thanks for all the help, keeper

Good evening;

Some progress here,and also a few questions. The genset was gunked and cleaned ,and all the sheet steel from the housing is being repaired, primed, painted. Got a near perfect paint match at sherwin williams. The fuel injection pipes are in sad shape completely rusted and crusty. I priced out replacements $ 365 plus ship @ tax (6 parts).A question I have is can these be fabricated . Tools are available @ Jeggs & Mc Masters. My thought is to buy other much less expensive pre-formed tubes and rework them to fit. Manual 967-301 for Rev. R and later shows a different routing for the injection tubing than my engine ( 6.0 DJB 3R / 12482S ). A little puzzleing. Has anyone out there been this route before. Does not seem to be much on the posts. Flange type angle, tube size, and material are a few things buzzing around my head. Photos will be posted as soon as I can get my computer returned to normal. Hard drive had to be replaced. As always any and all help is very much appreciated.

Thanks again , Keeper

You know that Fuel Injector Lines on a diesel engine MUST be the same length to ALL cylinders.

If they're not leaking, I would clean up and install them and then paint in place once you get it running. The wall of the lines is very thick, so some rust would likely not be a problem. You should be able to find a used set somewhere.

I have a Ford diesel with one injector line that has a slip-on brass ferrule on one end. Works just fine. It was put on before we got it. I found it when I was bleeding the injectors one day. Got all discouraged when the line came up out of the nut, but having no other option, I put it back together and it's been running that way ever since.
