Default Magnet Charging

A few days ago while on my way to work there was a sign on the side of the hiway for a garage sale. So I stopped in and left with 2 E4A magnetos for 20 bucks. I dismantled one and going to clean it up and it looks pretty good inside just needs some TLC. The magnet being a bit weak could I not charge it by wrapping the magnet itself with several layers of wire and charge it that way.
