Default Changing Your Location

Note to Subscribers about the location field in your profile and on your posts.

For new users, I am pretty aggressive about making sure that this location is complete and correct...

City, State, USA or City, Province, Canada or other countries.

In the case of long term subscribers, I am generally more lenient about what you have placed in the address line. After all, I either have your PayPal address or bank check address.

If your location shows incorrect and you would like to change it, just let me know and I will edit it for you. No funny business or frivolity! I would like to keep it to a minimum of an actual State and Country. If you feel secure about being in the open, use City and State - no street address should be used. This is a physical address, not a mailing address so two letter states are out as well as zip codes. If you have a winter/summer location we do it just that way, two locations separated by the / mark.

This is done for the benefit of those making purchases from classified ads and or those that wonder who lives near to them. Hopefully, there is no funny business going on. All registrants are IP checked for location so that we don't get someone in Slobovia claiming they are in New York.

If I know exactly where you are or who you are, I enter a Yes in the profile location confirmation box. If not exact, I enter state or province and if totally unsure, I enter No. If a corporate server or proxy server, wireless or satellite, I enter that as well. Many long term applicants are yet to be updated.

We have a pretty extensive automated checking system running on all new applicants. Based on www.stopforumspam.com all IPs are checked and rejected based upon IP address or email address. This is working quite well for 95% of the bad ones that number in the tens of thousands per month. Russia (.ru) is the greater number in the bunch.

Thank you for being subscribers!
