Default AHH RIP... Parts available

The oil pan apparently came loose last night and destroyed the engine. Crank is shot, rod is shot, piston and cylinder scored. I don't know how this happened, engine was running awesome then I heard her come apart interally. It still started and ran which was amazing but she's toast. Let me know if anyone needs parts that are left....

Is the air shroud in good shape? I may be interested. Allie

I sandblasted it and welded most of the holes. It's not show quality but is functional.

I would like to see what the crankpin and connecting rod look like after this failure. It is unlikely that the oil pump failure caused the piston to score the cylinder; you would have had to work it hard and hot to cause that damage. You can have the crankshaft ground and a new rod installed if you so desire to put it back into service. I have never seen or heard of an oil trough walking off of the oil pan before. It must not have been bolted down. From what it sounds like, your Heckendorn stump grinder is just one of a few of its kind left. I would try to fix it before scrapping or parting it out.

All of that is fixable, if you want to put that much time/effort/$ into it. Unless it uses an odd crankshaft, probably wouldn't take much $.
