Default Help identifying this engine and its use in John Deere equipment?

Hello experts, any thoughts on what this is and what piece of John Deere equipment it might have come off of - seller says it's a 4 cylinder gas engine - no other info available.

Thank you!

My guess a model HA 92. (92 cubic inches) Used on model 30 combines. If I am correct Deere discontinued parts for them a long time ago.

Might be a later power unit, if an L-series. Ours didn't have electric start and the oil pressure guage was in a different place. I believe our 12A was a 1946.

He said it was a FOUR cylinder! Look at the intake manifold and the fuel pump!

Hello, thank you for all the replies. I am going to pass on purchasing it.

If you are interested it is on Dallas craigslist - search for old john deere motor.

Thank you again! Keith.

Keith, The HA-92 John Deere engine 4 cylinder usually used a Wico model X vertical, XVD-2330 vertical dist mount type magneto. As said the pull type JD 30 combines, possibly some JD hay balers & some were sold for just general power unit use. Should have a tag on the engine someplace. Some others that used a different Wico mag or Delco battery distributor were TA-92, TB-92, TA-145, & early TA-217 power units. Later 217 units were different on 55 JD combines. There was also a EA-92 4 cyld JD power unit used on some but not all JD 114W & 116W hay balers. Other 114/w & 116W balers used the Wisconsin VF4D engines.
