Default Lubrication for a Steam Engine

I have some weeden and other steam engines. I was wondering what is the best lubricant for the engine for usse with air as well as steam.

Hi Gary -

Coming from big steam, your little engine will do well on steam with some steam cylinder oil. Most model steam companies sell "cylinder oil".

Another soluition would be to go to a steam show with a small bottle in your pocket. Befriend an engine owner, and he'll probably give you a couple ounces for your hobby engine, which will last you for several years.

If you run it only on air, some general 30w motor oil will be fine.
