Default Ge 5kh45ab

I'm rebuilding and old Duro scroll saw and trying to use the GE motor that came with it. The old two wire power cord was attached to L1 and L2 (see photo) I'm attaching a new 3 wire cord to the motor using L1 and L2 and drilling and tapping a hole in the motor frame for the ground wire. Is this best practice? Anyone know what the ?? terminal is for?

Thanks

Bill

Very likely to reverse rotation. Exchange the two black wires.
