My engine is completely torn down and the engine shop is finishing up the head job and dipping my block, so my battle the black tar-like oil is about over and its nearing the time I get to start putting things back together and make some noise. Just need to gather a couple odds and ends yet.
Anyone have a source for valves for a McD 10-20? I could have sworn I saw them on Rice Equipment a week ago for $18 apiece, but now I can't find them on their site or anywhere else. The mag is hot, new plugs and wires, a box of gaskets on the living room floor, carb parts on the way. All I need is valves and rings. Rings aren't a worry. Thanks, Eric |

I believe that I have standard rings in sets specifically for the 10-20 & F-30 and many others boxed and labeled for tractors by the Bird Piston Ring Company formerly here in Rockford. Sundstrand plant 1 occupied the old Bird plant and tore it down about 4 years ago but there was no trace of piston rings there then. There's nothing over 6 inch.

I forgot about the one's on Fordson House, but I'd like to find those $18 dollar ones.
The engine shop the head is at can get custom stainless steel performance race engine valves made based off the old worn out valves I have for the price of the Fordson House valves, so I was a bit turned off on those. I've ordered quite a bit from FH, but I'm not so sure of their valves. |
