Harold,
Why aren't you going to the auction? A nice York would look good with your Berryville display. Tom

I would love to go but it would cost me a small fortune just to look! I believe I'll go to the Chambersburg engine show where it's safe. Maybe Harold and I can pool our money and get a bowl o' bean sup! I'm sure they don't have any gator sammiches.

Could any of you gents attending this auction do me, down-under, a favour please? Our club is the custodian of "probably" the only 6hp York in Australia and we are starved of information on these engines.
Once its all over, could you advise me of the auction price for the 6hp please?
It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks & Cheers,
Rob

Did any of you gents attending this auction manage to get any photos?
If so, would there be any chance of you posting a few up here?
I'm especially interested in images of the 6hp.
Cheers,
Rob

This was a great auction that I really enjoyed. Not only did I get to visit with many fellow friends and collectors, but got to see a truely unique and historic collection sold.

I learned at the auction that the previous owner of the collection was a former employee at the York factory. And this was definately THE auciton for York collectors. I'll share some photos I took...

First is a neat cabinet photo featuring a group of York employees posing with a York keystone hopper engine outside of what I assume is a York factory building. The original owner of this collection is pictured in the photo. The person identified by name in the photo also worked for the York company and built a very neat small model engine that was at the auction. Unfortunately it was missing the ignitor, otherwise it was a well done and unique model.

Next are some pictures of a 1 - 2 HP vertical York engine, the only one known to exist. It is serial number 72, which is probably the oldest York engine. A very early engine design that was even neater to look at in person!

Very nice original 6 HP York portable engine. York engines are definately big and heavy for their horse power!
