Sad news to hear. Ed you will be missed by all on this web site, and especially in the onan forum!

Your generosity has helped so many people over the years.

RIP my friend.

That is a real shock to me. We just had our monthly fight last week. We were always fighting over something in a friendly way. We were always talking about visiting each other someday. He was going to buy me a lobster and I would buy him a steak. I will miss him.

So long to a fellow Texan

That is a shock, he had just sent me a copy of the operators manual for my 1963 305CCK set. That is a great loss both to the group and his family. Rest in peace Ed.

You were asking about a photo and I decided to copy his photo and article from the Orr's and Bailey Islands Fire Department into post #1 of this thread.
http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showpo...39&postcount=1

Ed had been to our home for a long visit with us recently on June 28th and brought a couple pounds of frozen diver scallops from the last winter's season. He had previously helped us find this summer location and helped me find a servicing dealer that took care of my Jeep 4X4 problem last year. Everywhere I travel in the islands, folks knew Ed. He will be missed by many!

Always leaves a huge hole, strange how you can get close to folks you've never talked to or met.

T-Nut (Robert Bastow) Have his mint sauce for lamb recipe, and an inside turning tool.
Dennis Turk (not sure, but absent from those forums)
and now Ed

I hope they're getting to know each other.

Shortly after I came here seeking help with my Onan, Ed said hello.
He spent a lot of time helping me the newbie with all sorts of questions.
Sent me all the manuals and phamphlets I could ever wish for.
He never asked for anything in return.
I think Ed was the closest Stacker to me as I live in Nova Scotia.
He asked me on more than 1 oacasion to come for a visit and bring the missus, all were welcome.
I always put it off and said maybe next year.
Right there Ed is teaching me and many of you yet again.
Take the time to spend with friends and family.
We don't know how long we are here and when we are gone its too late.
I kick my self now for not at least taking a long weekend and dropping in for a short visit.
Ed will be missed by all here I am sure and the world is just a little worse without him.
Chris

What a shock indeed. Ed will surely be missed here on the Stack. I know I will miss him.
I always enjoyed reading his posts. He was always so helpful to everyone and his off topic posts were always thoughtful even if I didn't always agree with him.
My prayers are with his family.

I was checking through some folders that I store things on that I want to keep on my computer. I saw a Nov 19, 2013 unopened in my projects folder marked
"927-500" and it is a CCK manual that Ed sent me when I was New to the site.
I opened it tonight, it had the pdf in it and it said, "here ya go, ed"
He didn't know me from Adam and yet he took time to send me a pdf and a short note.
I belong to MANY sites from this one to BMW motorcycles.
This site has some of the most GENEROUS and Un-Selfish folks on it that I have ever encountered. Almost ALL are very knowledgeable as well and all are willing to help if they can.
I Really liked what snowshoveler said in the bottom half of his post:

"Right there Ed is teaching me and many of you yet again.

Our COUNTRY/World is being drastically changed by "Those powers that Be". People hardly take the time to Be Nice to one another. There is still a bunch of Good Old Time AMERICANS here on this site.

It is truly amazing that while I never met Ed in person, I felt like he was a friend. When I had my CW, he was always available to help trouble shoot and provide words of encouragement. When the CW had to be parted out, Ed received the majority of the spare parts that he needed and both of us were happy. Prayers to the Sparks family. Ed will be missed by many. RIP.

I always thought that Ed's forum name was a Pseudo name "Sparks"
I thought he did it because of the "sparks & arcs" in the upper left corner, funny how his real last name was also part of what he enjoyed doing!

Yes after reading that article about him, you can see he helped a lot more people than his board, he truly was a pillar of his community, and will be missed by all!

He was always nice to me even if I asked dumb stuff...now that takes patience and the making of a Great guy!!!

Didn't know him personally, but always read his replies because I knew they would be full of good information on the subject being discussed.

Prayers to his family.

My condolences to his family and all who knew him. I didn't know him personally but from his posts and replies I could tell he was a great person. I always looked forward to reading anything he put here and I will miss him for it - it's as if a mainstay of the Stak has just been lost.
