Default Maytag Spark Plug Query

Hi all, I have fitted to my Maytag model 92 at the moment an Autolite 3095 spark plug, it works ok, but does not look period enough is there a different make available I. E. Champion that looks nearer the correct era for engine date.

I do have the original Champion script style plug[ think that is what they are called] but it is not in that a good condition for use.

i happened across some old champion 1/2" pipe thread plugs at a swapmeet and bought probably 10 of em for a total of about $15 which is a great price. i couldnt keep the autolites in my 92 for any length of time without fouling them but ive had the same old champion in there for the whole show season. you might try ebay for a lot of old pipe thread plugs. they would probably be better than the new autolites

3 old 1/2" pipe based champion plugs: 1) Maytag script original - best money can buy. You see them now and then on evilbay. Sparky 49 has a good deal for you! 2) Champion #34, also OEM. 3) Champion Gas Engine Special. Works just as well as the other two, but a bit harder to find.

Modern 1/2' base A-25, but I find they tend to foul with the hit and miss cycle. They don't look as good as the originals mentioned above. if you want to use the A-25, get the old ones that can be taken apart. They can be cleaned and kept in service a lot longer than the later one piece ones. The new A-25 and autolite plugs are made with unglazed internal insulaters. This means they will short under compression if they get wet with gas.
