Default TJD Rectifier question

I need to know if I can utilize a YJ58 rectifier to replace a YJ68 rectifier. The problem is the existing stator that had a YJ68 has one white and two black wires whereas the YJ58 has only two black wires.
I'm wondering if I can simply connect the black wires and ignore the white? If you refer to normal AC wiring standards, the white would simply be a ground (neutral)?
