Default Sears companion 5000 watt generator needs generator unit

I have a sears companion 5000 watt generator model # 580.327110. I bought from sears in 2001 from the sales bin. I have never used it. I got it out to use it and it has been used and they burnt the windings in the generator up before I bought it. The motor looks like it has maybe an hour or two on it. Can I buy a generator head for it. Or should i just buy a new generator? Bill

Here is a guy on eBay that has replacement generator heads.

I am not connected with him in any way.

I just looked up your number at Searspartsdirect.com
They show the Rotor & Stator available - If you want to spend $308.80 for a rotor and $462.55 for the stator!
Those eBay replacements for a little under $250 look pretty good......
