Default Onan JB Propane

Hey guys I'm back all better and a new project.
I found this jb just down the road. It has mouse in the lower control box. I will clean it out and see how bad it is.

So what would be the best cleaner to use to clean the mouse crap/urine residue out. Without ruining anything else.

How bad is it? Any pictures?

I would vacuum it out.. then use some kind of cleaning.solvent.. after you cover the relays
. Then.let it dry out for a few days.. if it's not to far.gone

I will get more, tomorrow. Some of the screw heads are gone when I took off the cover. The top cover where the board is was clean.

Several years ago I bought a 15.0 JC. The control box had condos and town houses of mice nest. I ended up removing all the components and wires to allow complete removal of mice damage and to paint the metal to look new. Also, I had to rewire the entire control box for two reasons; 1) The mice chewed on some of the wires in addition to peeing/pooping on the wires and 2) A genius from the past decided to modify the wiring and did a butcher job.

Non flammable contact cleaner works well on the electrical bits. Febreeze kills the smell. An added plus, Febreeze tends to repel the critters. Contact cleaner may wreck the paint, tho.

Think I'ld clean it out then paint the inside of box. I repaired a microwave that had a triac on circuit board die and cook the board. One terrible burn smell. I just cleaned then painted the board with clear paint. All smell disappeared , it locked the smell under the paint.

So the bottom of the control box is full of , well you know what. A couple of wires are chewed off. The heads of some screws are gone. I'm sure there is more. I will need a terminal block for the bottom for sure and the aluminum heat sink. Its a mess.

Penetrating oil can be your friend on the exposed relay, get the junk out of the box and start soaking it for a while before trying to unscrew anything. I ended up reusing the heat sink on my unit even though it had corrosion on it which I cleaned up as best I could.
