Default Old Engine Generator on TV

Someone at work was telling me about a show called "Casian Storage Wars"? He was trying to describe an over head antique engine and dynamo he saw on there last night. The seller wanted $10,000 and they offered $5k. Anyway, just wondering what it was. I was guessing FM? Thanks

Ya it was a vertical Fairbanks. I dont know them well enough to know what model it was from the quick views of it. The whole rig was something the guy pieced together from what looked like mostly vintage parts. It was not just a simple engine on a cart with the generator. It had all sorts of pulleys and gear boxes and other fun stuff on it. Most did not appear to have any function other than to look neat.

Did any of you see the one with the antique bateau (boat). It belongs to Keith Dupuy a friend of mine, I gave it to him. He wanted to sell it for $5000 to buy a bass boat, ended up pawning it for $2000. He signed an agreement not to talk about the deal, but the boat came home behind his truck, these shows are for entertainment, I doubt if you could buy the boat . Robert Mayeau was also filmed selling a generator, haven't seen it yet.

I saw the boat one. That was neat also. Never saw anything quite like that before but I imagine back in its day it was quite a machine.

That was Louisiana's answer to the Model T, most of the comunities in South LA were built on the water, roads were nonexistant. Here's a link to a trip we took if you want to see more.

Did those have a reverse? Or just a clutch? I presume the prop was somewhat recessed ? With all that shallow water it would seem like it could not have totally hung down under the hull.

I was half asleep last night and saw that episode. There was alot going on there and I swear I saw an LB hidden in amongst it all. And.......it looked like he was spinning that vertical counterclockwise to start it; yes?

In all, very complicated, but a good lookin' setup.
