Default Early Briggs WI with IBP style carb ?

I bought this engine recently and was wondering if the WI's were ever offered with this carb or if someone just put this engine together from parts. Any ideas ?

Thanks,
Nathan

GamBitace71 is right. Also all the float carb WIs iv ever seen had the larger tank with the brass shutoff. All said I beleive your engine is a model I with a WI tag

Nice engine! Looks like a WI to me, i can see the pivot pin on the pto side meaning it probobly doesn't have the 4 bolt pto. The Briggs type N carb. on your engine was I believe used on some early model WI's. The way the fuel line is bent it looks like it was for a type GF carb. they didn't have the sediment bowl fuel filter on them as mentioned. It could be the carb. and or the tank was possibly changed on your engine at some point.I don't have a float carb. WI but the ones I recall seeing had the larger tank. I am curious to know the type number on the tag. Just my thoughts, Den

It is a WI block with no pto bolt holes. Here is a couple more pics.

Actually, I have three of them. Two with the one gallon gas tank and one with a two quart gas tank, all lever start on the PTO side.

I think the top of the carb has gotten changed at some point because there is a support bracket underneath the carb that looks original.. I think these carbs are neat. I have one on an IBP and it runs great.
