Default Early US V8 Engines Reference Book?? Davis V8 (1915) Buda (1915)

Picked up a major disappointment awhile back: John Gunnell's Std Cat Of V8 Engines 1906-2002...should be "Std Cat Of Mainline US V8 Engines": 270+ pgs on mainline makes, eight (8) on everything else...
(1) Does anyone here have or know of a better ref book covering early US V8s??
(2) Ran across two 1915 V8s I've never heard of:
(A) Davis (Davis Mfg Co, Milw ,WI) a 3x4...Davis produced a line of Ind'l engines: 2 and 4 cyl hor-opp and a line of vertical inline 4s from 21/4x4 (cyclecar?) to 5x61/2 per a 1915 ad...don't know if their V8 ever got into serial production...
(B) Buda V8 3x51/8. Don't know if this one got into serial production; none of my catalogs list any early Buda 8
Does either of these two sound familiar to anyone??
Also posted to AACA for the car people; any comments appreciated!
