Default Kohler Model B Light Plant - What Magneto

Stumbled across a Kohler Model B light plant at a swap meet the other day, and just had to have it. It is missing the magneto, though. What mag was used on these plants? Is it the same as the 1A21 plants?

Just trying to figure out which one to keep an eye out for...

If I remember, I will post some pictures in the "as Found" state. It seems to be complete with the exception of the mag, Only damage being a cracked exhaust manifold.

Thanks!

Model B.... Is it the little overhead valve, water cooled inline four? Radiator above the generator? Then, yes, ought to be the same engine as a 1A21. Seems that quite a few different mags were used on those. Suspect it's a fairly standard type.

Oh, yes, please post some photos. Especially the nameplate.

The mags from any of the 4 cylinder OHV sets (A-E and 1A & M 21s) should fit. You will need to install a matching set of splined couplings though - they had several different ones. They used WICO, Eismann and F/M magnetos over the years.

You guys are quick... Here are some pictures. I am going to go out to the garage right now and get one of the mag coupling. I'm pretty sure it looks like the one you posted, bHoward. If anyone has a specific model/type of mag, I have a buddy that has a ton of 4 cyl mags he bought in a sale, just need to shoot him a model ID of one that will work.

Thanks!

Griffin

The mag that was on my B was a Farebanks Morse J. It had a spacer plate on the bottom. The plate and the spline piece are available . I don't need them. I put the mag on Farbanks engine.

Griffin, if Bill has the parts you need you can be confident he will treat you right. I got a few nice parts from him in the past for mine and all were well worth the price.
Have fun with your new toy.
