Default Re: Smoke Box Cooking

Its Not necessarily smokebox cooking, but Iíll usually cook some breakfast on the coal shovel. I pre-heat it a little in the firebox then use a clean wet rag to clean off the dirt and dust. Then Iíll typically lube it up with bacon fat before cooking. Bacon turns out great. Iíve also done pork sausage, toast, hash browns, even eggs but you really have to keep an eye on the temperature. Iíll constantly move the shovel in and out of the fire to try and keep the temperature where I think it should be. Only pics I could find was when I cooked steaks for dinner last year, they came out just how I like them, well seared on each side and rare in the middle.
