So what's the local forecast saying about Fri & Sat? What I'm reading on interweb doesn't sound promising - 80% chance both days was the last rep, but can't find comments on if that's a steady all day, or random pop-ups. REALLY been looking forward to this one (and hitting Dayton airshow & AF museum for a much extended weekend, but running 800+ miles just to possibly drown

Argh, stupid phone....

Anyhow, 800+ miles to get rained out would be major downer. Are the local stations sounding a little more optimistic?

Nothing near 80%, Thursday 0%, Friday 50%, Saturday 60% and Sunday 40%. I would not let those percentage keep me from going.

It keeps changing but with the forecast for lower temps, it should be pleasant. As mentioned, the percentages for rain are lower, at least lower than the forecast I saw yesterday. It sounds more like isolated pop up showers, etc. Forecasting the weather here is like throwing darts in the dark.

Well that's sounding better. A few sites are starting to put up hourly guesses now, which have Fri looking progressively more risky toward early eve for a storm or few. NTA is the primary driver for the road trip - Dayton AS & museum are bonuses (really good ones but not enough to stand alone for the trip). Toss in a little bourbon touring & bourbon surfin' around Louisville and the trip is just what's needed. If I don't get a steam fix this week it'll likely be Sept before another road trip chance. At the point-of-no-return now, either on the road early am tommorrow or cancel leave & back to work... Gonna shoot for the former 'cause I need a break from the latter...

The ones I really feel bad for ref the weather though are all the operators who have expended farrrr more time and funds getting their fantastic equipment to the show and back...

I just picked up the 2019 Steam Engine Calendars from the printer. Look for us under the grandstand. Get yours now! Christmas and New Years will be here before you know it.

Minneapolis seems to be over represented. As a Peerless and Port Huron owner, I'm slightly offended.

Yeah, I've heard those Peerless owners are sensitive that way.

Good thing you did not go to Rollag a couple of years ago when Minneapolis was featured i will say they had 100 to 150 Minn steamers there. I didnt know that many still existed.

Casemaker,

That's a nice thought, and it would have been a mighty sight to see, but there were only 20 Minneapolis engines (full size) and 3 models. I thought the estimate was a little high, so I confirmed with one of the Minneapolis Expo organizers.

Cheers!

The engines, prairie tractors and more are lining up! Mother Nature has given us some dust control, but all is on track. The sawmill was in action, the rock crusher is ready to crush, fans were turning and engines we're on the move. Reunions are in full gear, so many great characters in one place!
