Gary(s),

You've seen this engine #14043 often on here. My Dad & brother purchased it from Tom Monaghan (of the Dominos Pizza fame) who let it sit outside (rusted the jacket out)

Tom purchased it along with a Huber steam roller, a Buffalo Springfield steam roller, the Foden steam waggon, and a 1/2 scale showman engine from a museum in Oklahoma.

Rumor has it that this engine was never sold into production and went to the World's Fair--therefore the WELDED fenders and rear Reeves style water tank. The levers and heads had been chromed, but flaked off when Tom left it outside as an anchor for a radio tower. The gearing is new.

The engine has been used for holiday parades.

Here's a link to the Double NS thread. Lots of information there: http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41551

Anyone have a Nick that they want to add to the list? All I will need is engine # and engine size and a short history on the engine. The list is growing!

Thanks for all the help I have been getting!

Got 3 for ya, Ben.

25-85hp double 12010

25-85hp Single 13866

The story on this one is that it was the last off the Nichols line, although it doesn't have the highest number.

35-120 double 11715

The two 25-85s are owned my grandma and the 35 is owned by my dad

Here's BD's YouTube video of the NS on the fan at Richland Co. Those doubles, just don't bark!

I may as well revive this thread...

Ben, if you are still tracking NS engines, I am the proud owner of #14056, which is already correctly on your list as a 20-70hp single. You can list as Minnesota even though it will stay in Iowa until I get the inspections done, etc.

Todd

PS, I can PM with address info if you are tracking that level of detail

My grandpa retubed a Nichols and Shepard engine before it went up for auction near Rising City, Nebraska several years back. I believe it was a double cylinder engine. I dont remember where it went, but I may be able to ask around and figure out where it is now so it may be added to the list.

I am the next caretaker of 13195 a 1917 (I think) 20-75 twin rear geared engine. I am told it spent it's working life on a sawmill in southwest MO.
