I believe that 6 HP was as low as was actually built by Reid The 4 HP is a 1/2 scale of the 8 I think. See the beginnings in the Archives!

I have seen five (5), Joseph Reid built, 4hp gas engines. While questions abound and no actual information has surfaced, most conclude they were an attempt to market a small hp shallow well pump engine.

Just finished " bolt and nut" Dept., just can't find what you want on the market today. All nuts and bolts 4140 steel, not heat treated. Check origonal ones dead soft.

Here are some pics of the 4 hp REID cyl, before machining! I am getting along pretty good considering the surgury! The knee is healing fine, and I am planning to be at portland swap, friday.

i was wondering what was happening with the project as i hadn't see any updates for awhile. didn't know you had went for surgery, excellent to hear that your knee is healing well. thanks again for the update, looking forward to seeing the completed product.

Pretty unique way to design the conn rod, were the originals made that way or is this done to save one less expensive pattern and casting?
