Default Honda Type "H" engine, from 1954 (Honda's first general purpose engine)

Hello folks.

I recently added a neat old engine to my collection. This here is a 1954 Honda Type H engine. From what I'm learning, the H engine debuted in 1953, and it was Honda's first general purpose engine, as it was made to work with seed spreaders, leaf blowers, and other agricultural devices made by other manufactures.

This one turns over, and generates spark, so I suspect with a little carb tinkering, I hope to have it running here soon.

Here's a more close up of the "Honda" tag, and the label above the pulley wheel, which translated states: "TOP DEAD CENTER 30 degrees IGNITION"

Wow, that's pretty cool. Looks like a two stroke. Even better.

I had no idea that Honda started making engines that early.
