Yes, here where I am only 60 miles from Boston the weather systems slide up the coast from N & S Carolinas. And just maybe 60 miles left or right makes a big difference in how much or even if we get snow or rain.

In Lawrenceville, Pa. (south of Corning, NY), we got between 8 and 9 inches yesterday with blowing wind all day. My son and I had our 5.0CCK ready to go but there were no utility power problems in our area.

I went out about 9:45 last night, made three passes and the engine died on my Bobcat. Went to get the truck for lights backed into a fence post with a light on it. Got the Bobcat started and cleared for about 45 mins so I could get out in the morning. There was about 20-24" down then and still snowing hard. When I went out this morning there is about 6-8" more down and still snowing.Blew the main drive belt on the Bobcat this morning, but did get a hole open. Now comes the fun job to change it. That's a 3-4hr. job. At least no school again today. I will have to go and try to find the bus later as the transport cops do not like you on the road with it loaded down with snow. There was a big accident near Magog, Qc. yesterday.I hope this works http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montre...arch-1.4025125

I see that they don't slow down in Canada either when weather hits. Here in Calif, It can be raining HARD and these clowns are running down the freeway at 75 MPH, right on someone elses tail!

Around here in N. Chelmsford, MA some 35 miles NW of Boston, we got about 12 inches followed by an extended period of rain. Total water content was 1.54 inches. That put a crust on top of the snow. As storms go, this one was over blown to a significant degree. Never had to even consider running the JB which sits cold but dry in its shed.

It is being reported that the weather service knew a couple of days in advance that the NYC region was not going to get hit as hard as originally forecast, but that they refused to update their weather forecasts because doing so might 'confuse' people.

This, my dear friends, is an example of fake news in action. It is not about reporting reality, it is more important to stick to their own self-serving needs.

I saw the same thing with NOAA forcast at ~ 6pm. Snow had almost stopped but the forcast of ~ 6 more inches stayed there, for hours afterwards. In the end I only got ~ 1 inch more of fine dry snow/sleet.

Maybe they only update the models every so often, 5-6 hours maybe
Would make sense as the computer models are likely large and take long time from run.

My Wife and I say when we watch the weather people and they completely screw up the forecast..."They get paid whether they are right or wrong."
Reminds me of today's DOCTORS!
