Default CSG-6491-6005-A 45Kw

Hello everyone. I have a 45EM generator with a Ford CSG-6491-6005-A engine.
How do I tell the date of manufacture of the engine from the engine nameplate?
(Generator was made in Jan 1995)

Model Number CSG-6491-6005-A
Serial Number 23228 F-16-RA
S.O./Options 0034F
Model Code NFA-0034-NBB

Also, I need some new spark plug wires, but Onan wants $150 per wire. Does anyone know where to get them for less.

If you want pre-made wires, go to the auto parts store and tell them you want a set for a Pinto of the same vintage. Or buy a set of cut to fit and make your own. (were they still building Pintos in 95?)

No they built the Pinto from 1960-74 and google says it is one of the 50 worst cars of all time.

It is a 6 cylinder. Get wires for a Ford truck with a 300 (4.9L) engine.

By the way, what kind of "radio"?

I agree with Wayne. a set of plug wires from an early 90's ford truck will work just fine. A good close up picture of the distributor with one spark plug wire un-plugged from the dist cap will let us know if its the newer style or older style ignition.

That engine is nothing more than a Ford truck or car engine. Tune up items are standard Ford. Onan just added a few items to make it a generator engine.

Max is thinking of the 423 Ford engine.

Thanks for the replies!! I also think it is like a 1990 F150 with the 4.9L engine. Will have to post pictures like BRae suggests.

Pintos were built from 1971 -1980
The 2.3 L 140ci motor was from 1974 till late 90s as 2.3 and 2.5 L
Pintos Mustangs Rangers Areostar Van and Industrial motors Very reliable engine Just replace timing belt

Butch

And yes a 45KW generator would have a 300ci 4.9L 6 not the Pinto motor
