I picked this 1989 5.0 cck up for 200 bucks.. tri fuel.. from a big generator repair company that could not get it to start.. has a Ford start solenoid on it..

supposedly professionals.. but all there stuff was new and they rent them.. he has another cck in a in closure that has a dead cylinder and wants me to fix and has no idea what's causing low compression..

Your like a blood hound trained to sniff out Onans. Nice catch, as always! 5.0 CCKs are nice heavy iron gennys as you know. What does this make for the month of March? Do you ever run out of room over there?

Got the MDKC offloaded since the rain finally took a time out. A 30+ year old machine only gets 286 hours on it by doing a BUNCH of sitting around, and sure enough....the coolant had partially evaporated with only the block actually filled still with good green coolant. Even then, the outlet to the pump was all gooped up. The water pump was full of gelatinous slime and the water neck as well as the manifold tank were full of coolant crystals. The lid on the tank and the thermostat crumbled once disturbed from their 30 year nap. The water neck and the pump were trashed.

I took the cheesy plastic intake resonator off, since it was only held on with one bolt and also took off the marine exhaust manifold as well as the heat exchanger.

So, the shopping list (other than muffler, battery and radiator set up) grows to water pump, thermostat housing, exhaust manifold, Donaldson or other suitable air cleaner and fuel solenoid relay.

The raw water pump is still mounted as well. The flange on it is 1/4" thick or so and either requires a beefy aluminum block off or some purpose made item from Kubota. Either way, the fuel solenoid will need adjustment. Not sure if I want to get into that just yet, or ever. Unless the raw water pump is water lubricated/cooled, I just assume leave it unless anyone has better advice.

I loaded the 12.5jc that I pick up a few weeks ago. I could only load it with 22 amps but it did okay. The rpm did drop some so I went to adjust the carb and that is when I broke it. The main needle valve on the bottom of the float bowl broke. The little nut around it just fell apart from corrosion. So I will be looking for a main jet assembly and the run/stop solenoid. Oh well, at least it pulled some amps and still runs good.
